About the Authors

Matt is a highly decorated combat veteran and a passionate advocate for veteran wellness. Originally from rural Utah, he joined the U.S. Army in 1990. After completing his initial enlistment, he earned a BS in History with a minor in Military Science from Weber State University, which led to a commission in the Utah National Guard in 1993. In 1998, he volunteered for Special Forces Assessment and Selection, and in 1999, he completed the Special Forces "Q-Course" and RANGER school, transitioning to active duty. He was assigned to the 3rd Special Forces Group, where he was a member of a Special Forces "A-Team" during the events of 9/11. Over the next seventeen years, Matt deployed six times to Iraq and Afghanistan, accumulating 42 months in combat.

Today, Matt channels his experience into advocacy for veteran access to plant medicine and alternative healing. He serves on the national Board of Directors for Hippie and a Veteran, where he also co-leads at the state level. Additionally, Matt is an ambassador for the Heroic Hearts Foundation. He lives in Utah with his wife, Sue, and enjoys spending time in his garden, his "happy place".

Cosmic Pilot Academy

Born and raised in New Jersey and currently residing in Utah, Sue Inglet is the imaginative creator behind the Crazy Tree. Her affection for the outdoors and its wild inhabitants led her to begin an unusual project: an ever-growing, outdoor art installation. What started with a small collection of birdhouses has blossomed into a whimsical display featuring a wide variety of found treasures. Like the squirrels that frequent it, Sue constantly rearranges and adds to the Crazy Tree, keeping it fresh and exciting. Her belief is that everyone should embrace their "crazy" and enjoy the magic of finding and displaying what they love.

Kyle Austin Inglet was born in June 1999 and passed away too soon in December 2019. Though his time was brief, the light he brought into the lives of those around him remains. Kyle was fiercely loyal, especially to his sisters, and had a remarkable gift for making others feel like his best friend. He lived and loved loudly and without judgment. His spirit lives on not only through the gifts of organ donation that saved others but also through his poignant final message, "Don’t Worry, It’s OK," the message behind his clothing line.
